RSE definitions guide

Statutory guidance on Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) (2019) requires that all schools must have a policy on the subject and that for primary schools this should include definitions for Relationships Education and any sex education that they choose to teach, and that secondary schools should define RSE. Schools need to be able to identify sex education in order to implement the parental right to request their child is excused from sex education. 

This new guide from the Sex Education Forum supports schools in navigating definitions for Relationships and Sex Education. The guide includes a table exploring what may constitute sex education and where this content might be placed in the curriculum,  sets out 10 principles for how to approach definitions and provides sample definitions.
